About Grace
Grace Church is a warm and welcoming community of Christian believers who are from all over the Rochester metropolitan area. Our desire is to honor God through the living of our lives together in worship, fellowship, and service. We try to make this very clear in our Sunday worship service, our weekly ministry priorities, and our ongoing community outreach.
In everything we do at Grace Church, we try to be guided by the following three statements: Worship God. Love people. And live the Gospel.
Worship God.
It’s a fact that comes as a surprise to many people: We all worship something. It may be your individuality. It may be your career. It may even be the idea of being a perfect parent or spouse. Whatever you give your whole heart to—whatever is of ultimate importance—is a kind of god you look to for meaning and happiness.
But the God of the Bible tells us, “You shall have no other gods before me.”
He calls us to worship him, and him alone. So at Grace, we try to build our lives around worshiping the true and living God.
Love People.
We believe that true love for God inevitably leads us to a true and deep love for others. Many people believe that loving people is a good thing to do. But more than that, loving people is precisely what God commands.
Jesus taught us to love God above all and to love our neighbors as ourselves. There is nothing more beautiful than seeing these two kinds of love working together. And probably nothing more difficult to do than to live this way.
Think of it: Each of us desires kindness, prosperity, companionship, love and so many other things for ourselves. So that is exactly what we must try to give to others.
It is a tremendous challenge. At Grace, we are thankful that we have the strength of the Lord to help us in loving people as we should and yet we yearn for more grace to do just that.
Live the Gospel.
When you realize that the Son of God died for you, it changes everything. In giving us his son, God showed his immense and overwhelming love for us. There is no deeper truth or hidden codes that will reveal God’s love in any other way than through Jesus Christ. So at Grace, we are committed to living lives that are a fitting response.
The apostle Paul called us to present our bodies as “a living sacrifice”. In each moment of our lives, we aspire to do that—however imperfectly—and we hope to seize every opportunity to tell others of God’s incredible Good News. We do this both in word and deed as we engage the Rochester community with the love of Christ.
