Adult Christian Education Hour

Adult Christian Education Hour runs in the 9:15 – 10:15 AM time slot with two elective classes beginning each quarter.  One of the electives is a study of a portion of scripture, and the other often deals in the light of God’s word with a topic of current interest.  Among these electives, eight different Foundations classes are repeated every three or four years with the expectation that adult Grace members will want to participate in each of them at some time. Discipleship is not learned primarily by the transfer of data, so our well-grounded instructors encourage group discussion and classroom interaction.

Spring Quarter Classes:

RESOLVING EVERYDAY CONFLICT - Facilitated by Pastor Marc Swan

We all have conflict.  It’s usually not the big blow up – it’s more like the tense conversation around the breakfast table or the difficulties with an angry neighbor, an overbearing boss, or a moody teenager.  These everyday conflicts build up walls and tear down relationships, and as much as we regret them, we often don’t know what to do about them.  Resolving Everyday Conflict is a DVD study by Peacemaker Ministries that unpacks the amazing things the Bible has to say about conflict and relationships.  Throughout this study, you’ll find the powerful and practical answers you are looking for as you dig into topics such as: when to overlook an offense, the root cause of conflict, what makes a good apology, what forgiveness really means, how to deal with difficult people, and much more.  With God’s help, Resolving Everyday Conflict will forever change how conflict looks in your life.  The cost of the study guide is $10 and may be ordered by contacting the church office.  Financial assistance is available.

1 & 2 THESSALONIANS – Living in the End Times - Facilitated by Peter Mason

How should we then live?  Our society has become like the declining Roman Empire: it is marked by the love of affluence, a widening gap between rich and poor, an obsession with sex, freakishness in the arts, and an increased desire to live off the state. We stand on the verge of chaos, in danger of coming under an authoritarian elite which will increasingly manipulate our lives.  Francis Schaeffer

Living in the end times  One of Paul’s first letters was written to new believers who were struggling to understand how they should live in exactly that kind of culture.  Paul had established the little church in Thessalonica and a short time later wrote two letters to them to help them know how they should live, especially in the light of the imminent return of the King.

Living today  How are you doing?  Get up, read the Bible, get convicted.  Then one of the kids is sick.  Or, you go to school or to work and there is a problem.  Forget the Word? Come and look with us at this little letter that will really tell us how we can live before our God and King.  How we can live in spite of the pressures.  How we can live knowing that He is coming for us.
