Ministries
Ministries.
When, in the Old Testament, the Jews were scattered from their homeland, the prophet Jeremiah encouraged them, saying, “Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile.” (Jeremiah 29:7) These words from the prophet come to the church today and encourage us in at least two ways: First of all, we are a pilgrim people. We are living in and serving a world which is not truly our home. We must tend to our church community in ministry, but for the sake of the gospel we must also tend to the broader community. Second, though we are a pilgrim people we are to treat this world as we would treat our actual home, by seeking its welfare and being part of the fabric of its existence in diverse ways.
Our ministries are an opportunity for our members to do these two things. And they are an opportunity for community members—believers and non-believers alike—to be part of Grace Church’s life and work.
